ATTICA, Ohio – Coming off a top-five finish at Atomic Speedway on August 29, Cap Henry was hopeful to have put behind him the woes that haunted him throughout August. To begin September, Attica Raceway Park’s final event of the season, the “Attica Ambush,” featured the All Star Circuit of Champions at the third-mile oval. Though a 13th-place finish came on Friday night, Henry rebounded Saturday and posted another top-five result for the Coomer Motorsports team.

33 cars turned out for the special event, and Henry’s 12.769-second qualifying time slated him third in the third of four qualifying groups, 15th-fastest overall. From outside front row of the heat three grid, Henry took the lead on the start and powered to a 1.33-second advantage at the checkered. Earning the tenth and final starting spot for the dash, Henry couldn’t get anything going and finished tenth.

Starting from that position in the 30-lap main event, the Bellevue, Ohio racer dropped to 13th on the opening lap, and gradually slid to 16th by lap five. Around the halfway point, Henry was able to regain 14th, and salvaged 13th with a lap-20 pass.

Saturday night, the Coomer Motorsports No. 21 was back and ready for action, though the car count decreased to 30 for night two. Henry’s similar qualifying time, 12.842, was 18th overall but the quickest in the third and final group. Starting heat race action in fourth, Henry just missed out on the top-two transfer to the dash by half a second, finishing third.

Again starting in tenth, 40 laps were on tap for the feature, with $5,000 going to the winner. Henry, a former full-time All Star competitor, did the majority of his passing in the early laps. Taking eighth on lap seven, he then moved up to seventh on lap 11. The event’s only caution helped Henry seize sixth, but much of the field ran in quick succession after the restart. It was only when the track began to take rubber that Henry was able to maneuver past a final competitor to enter the top five.

With Fremont Speedway’s final points race this coming Saturday evening, Henry currently grips the second position in the standings. Within reach of the lead, he trails Byron Reed by 34 markers, while holding a slim eight-point margin over third-place Chris Andrews.

Henry would like to thank Level Performance, J&J Auto Racing, OC Shocks, FK Rod Ends, Simpson Race Products, Keizer Wheels, Wings Unlimited, HMS Speedways & Hobbies, Handy Grafix, and Kear's Speed Shop as well as his family, the Genzman team, and all of his great fans for their continued support.

Henry is next scheduled to compete on September 12 at Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio in the Genzman Racing Enterprises No. 53 410ci winged sprint entry.
