ATTICA, Ohio – With a great starting spot in Friday’s 410 sprint car main event at Attica Raceway Park, Cap Henry seemed destined for his first podium of the season, possibly contending for the win in the process. Unfortunately, a jumble with a competitor resulted in Henry slowing with a flat tire, demoting him to the rear of the field after the tire was changed. The setback stung more after Saturday’s show at Fremont Speedway was cancelled due to rain.

Showcasing three heat races and a feature race, the Ohio oval hosted 23 entries for the 410 sprint division. Henry would race in the third heat, where his pill draw slated him outside row two. As he has done four of his five heat races this season, the racer from neighboring Bellevue moved forward two positions, this time finishing second.

The passing-based main event lineup put Henry going fifth for the 30-lapper. On lap two, the second-running car lost an engine and pulled off, and then Henry threw a slidejob for the third spot off turn four, with slight contact between the two. He amassed a slight gap over the rival driver, but the gap slowly closed while both drivers made their way into second and third, respectively. More contact between the two on the back straightaway on lap seven was the dagger for Henry, cutting down his left rear tire and negating his track position in the runner-up spot. After slowing to a stop, Henry was pushed to the work area to get the tire changed, but was doomed the 20th spot for the restart. Moving his way back through the field as best he could, he managed to muster a 14th-place finish for his efforts. “We had a good car,” Henry said in disappointment. “The results don’t show it.”

Henry would like to thank Level Performance, J&J Auto Racing, OC Shocks, FK Rod Ends, Simpson Race Products, Keizer Wheels, Wings Unlimited, HMS Speedways & Hobbies, Handy Grafix, and Kear's Speed Shop as well as his family, the Genzman team, and all of his great fans for their continued support.

Henry is next scheduled to compete on May 1 at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio and on May 2 at Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio, both with the FAST Series in the No. 53 410ci winged sprint entry.
