ATTICA, Ohio – Turning heads in the first race of a season is always a good thing, and Cap Henry did just that on Saturday night. He was set to fire off his 2015 season at Attica Raceway Park, which was hosting the All Star Circuit of Champions. The Bellevue, Ohio native was fast as lightning on his way through the pack. In the main event, gained 15 positions to collect the hard charger honors.

In warm-ups, Henry was 13th-quick of the 42 All Star Sprints in attendance. With that many cars in action, each team was allowed just one qualifying lap; Henry faced a track that was starting to lose grip and slow down as the last of the 42 cars to time in. “We struggled a bit testing some different stuff,” he said after qualifying 29th, with a 13.203 second lap on the one-third mile track. However, the new ASCoC qualifying format divides the cars by heat race preceding time trials and cars in the same heat race qualify back to back, thus diminishing the advantage of going out early. Henry was fifth-fastest among his heat race foes, just missing the top-four inversion and lining him up fifth for heat race competition. He would move forward one spot into the fourth and final transfer spot, sending him directly to the feature race.

Starting 20th on the grid for the 40-lapper, he had his work cut out for him on the way to the front. Unluckily for some but helpful for Henry, several cars tangled on the first lap in the first corner, and he was able to avoid the carnage, positioning himself 13th for the restart. After losing four spots by lap five, the #53 Genzman Racing Enterprises machine began its run forward. The caution flag flew with 11 laps in the books, and then again with one more lap complete. For the second of those restarts, Henry took the green in 12th, then cracked the top ten on the ensuing lap. Another caution on lap 16 slowed the pace, and the blue and orange J&J rode in the seventh spot. He methodically rolled the bottom of the speedway attempting to make the pass for sixth, but after ten laps, Henry set his sights on the high line and quickly made his move; he came to sixth, then cracked the top five on lap 32, but the top four had pulled away. A caution on lap 37 gave him one last shot at another pass. He was able to get within striking distance and give the fourth-running Dale Blaney a run for his money, but couldn’t make the pass before the checkered. “By halfway, the car was really working the bottom well,” Henry noted of his 20th-to-5th rally, adding that he’s excited for what this season will bring in the Genzman #53.

Henry would like to thank Level Performance, J&J Auto Racing, OC Shocks, FK Rod Ends, Simpson Race Products, Keizer Sprint Wheels, Wings Unlimited, HMS Speedways & Hobbies, Handy Grafix, and Kear's Speed Shop, as well as his family, the Genzman team, and all of his great fans for their continued support.
