26 Promotions – Tucson, AZ – (July 25, 2019) – A promising night ended with a damaged race truck as Cody Cambensy was taken out by a lapped car at Saturday night’s Summer Sizzle at Tucson Speedway.

The action kicked off with practice and after making numerous changes to the truck following the July 6th race, Cambensy reported the truck felt back to the way it was earlier this season when they were setting fast times every weekend. This weekend the No. 22 Tucson Motorsports Inc. truck would miss the pole position by a tenth of a second, settling for second and starting seventh in the feature after the invert.

“We began picking trucks off pretty quick and working our way up to battle for fourth. We made a pass for second, but a caution would come out putting us back to fourth on the restart,” explained Cambensy. “After the restart is when the race started to get crazy. We started running three-wide. I went to pass a truck on the inside and ended up getting pushed down to the infield, but we were able to gather it up and continue racing.”

Cambensy would work his way up to third and began running down the leaders as the laps wound down.

“On the last lap the truck that pushed me to the infield earlier in the race and was 15-laps down made his way back on the track to take me out,” said Cambensy. “He was able to knock me out of third and damage our truck.”

Cambensy would be able to nurse his damaged truck back around the track to finish in sixth.

“It is extremely disappointing what happened,” he said. “We had an amazing truck and Brandon Farrington made some great calls on setup and I felt if things played out different it was going to be a great points night. Someone else had a different agenda. We will regroup and look forward.”

Cody Cambensy would like to thank Dustin Ash Motorsports, Brandon Farrington, Josh Hitchiner, Terry Sukalski, Temperature Control, Davis Motorsports, Grace Boutique, Wells Johnson, Port of Tucson, Fiveone Media, and AZ Litho for their support.
