Wreck Ends Frustrating Firecracker 50 for Cody Cambensy at Tucson Speedway

26 Promotions – Tucson, AZ – (July 10, 2019) – Handling issues, mechanical issues, and a wrecked truck all contributed to a rough night Saturday for Cody Cambensy at Tucson Speedway.
Cambensy and his Tucson Motorsports Inc. No.22 team played a little strategy deciding not to run on new tires. The team knew that they’d be at a slight disadvantage but they were still hoping for a strong run.
Fighting handling issues in practice, Cambensy reported back to his team that the truck was extremely loose in the corners and tight in the center. This would lead to Cambensy qualifying and starting ninth in the Thunder Truck feature.
Unfortunately for Cambensy, the issues with the truck didn't end there.
“Going through tech I lost power steering. We tried getting it back going but it completely seized,” explained Cambensy. “We decided to just run and make the best of the night. As soon as the race started the handling was not the best and without power steering, the truck was extremely difficult to drive.”
Despite the handling and mechanical issues Cambensy was able to work himself up to sixth by the halfway point and was battling the No.24 truck when another truck would join the battle a few laps later. That truck and Cambensy would make contact with Cambensy getting turned in turns one and two ending his night.
“It was an extremely frustrating night for us to say the least. We have proved each race this year that we are one of the fastest trucks and have set every pole this year, but something was just off and no power steering just amplified that,” said Cambensy. “Then with another driver ending out night over frustration really put us behind in our championship run. We will get it back together for the 20th and run for a win.”
Cody Cambensy would like to thank Dustin Ash Motorsports, Brandon Farrington, Josh Hitchiner, Terry Sukalski, Temperature Control, Davis Motorsports, Grace Boutique, Wells Johnson, Port of Tucson, Fiveone Media, and AZ Litho for their support.
