26 Promotions – Tucson, AZ – (July 2, 2018) – Cody Cambensy scored his sixth NASCAR Super Truck podium of the season at Saturday night’s Firecracker 50 at Tucson Speedway.

“We made a few more changes to the truck to try and pick up a little more speed,” said Cambensy. “In practice, the sway bar broke off in the pits, so we only got about five minutes of practice. But the guys did great getting it fixed quickly to get us out there. The truck felt good, a little on the free side, but we were sixth quick out of 21 trucks.”

Still fighting a loose truck with no forward bite, Cambensy laid down the sixth fastest time in qualifying. With an invert of eight, Cambensy started the 50-lap NASCAR Super Truck feature on the inside of the second row.

“I wanted to pace myself for the first half to save tires,” he explained. “We battled for the lead for the first few laps, and we just got the tires too hot while being stuck on the bottom of the track and slipped back to sixth or seventh. The truck was just too loose all race, and at about half-way, we started having fuel problems again.”

With the motor losing power at the end of the straightaways, a loose truck, and tire wear a concern Cambensy credits his spotter with helping him get to the end of the race.

“Terry was able to help me keep a good pace while keeping the tires cool and with about 20 to go we charged to and finished third,” said Cambensy. “I wish I would have tightened the truck up before the 50-lap race. I think even with the fuel problems we may have had a shot at the end. The truck just had no drive off, and it was hard to manage the tires all race.”

Cambensy has yet to finish outside of the top four this season and knows that consistency will go a long way towards securing a points championship at the end of the year.

“Going into the race we were second in track points and 14th in NASCAR National points, so hopefully a good night like this will keep us in the hunt,” he said. “I need to thank Brad and Joann of TMI for letting us drive for them and the rest of our sponsors for their support.”

Cambensy returns to action with the NASCAR Super Trucks on July 28th at Tucson Speedway.

Cody Cambensy would like to thank his family, TMI Motorsports, Temperature Control INC., Levin Racing, Castle Roofing, Port of Tucson, Tucson Frozen Storage, Dirt Works Contracting, Desert RV, Road Runner Pizza, GAT Racing, Ron Norman, AZ Litho, and Fiveone Media for their continued support.
