Dover Produces Second-Place Run During Casey’s Midwest Fall Brawl at I-80 Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. (Oct. 3, 2022) – Jack Dover posted a runner-up result last Saturday at I-80 Speedway, which showcased the Casey’s Midwest Fall Brawl.

“We had some issues in hot laps so we had to switch fuel tanks,” he said. “We went out and buzzed the car around to make sure it’d run. Since we did that they put us to the tail for the heat race. We were able to go from eighth to third, which put us in the redraw.”

The strong charge in a heat race was followed by a good feature redraw as Dover pulled the No. 2 to line up on the outside of the front row in the A Main.

“We rode around in second the whole race,” he said. “It was right around the top. I’d say about Lap 18 me and the leader got into some lapped cars and I gave it everything we had. A lapper raced me hard for a couple of laps and that allowed the leader to get away. I got by the lapped car and tracked down the leader, but another lapped driver raced me hard and that cost more ground on the leader. When we were in clean air we were able to keep pace and we were good in dirty air, too. The lapped traffic just didn’t go our way.”

Dover’s second-place showing was his 11th top five of the season.

He also placed second in the I-80 Speedway championship standings – only 14 points behind the champion.

“We always enjoy racing at I-80 Speedway,” Dover said. “Things didn’t fall in our favor this year with multiple DNFs there while leading or running in the top five, but that’s part of racing. We’re looking forward to going back there in a couple of weeks for the World of Outlaws race.”
