Eric Schulz
Eric Schulz Racing
Yet another weekend of great racing has been recorded into the record books. Eric started off in Rock Rapids IA with his HRA non-wing sprint winding up third in both his heat race and the feature. “We are still trying to figure this new chassis out, but we are getting closer every time we go out with it. It has a lot of potential; it just is going to take some time.” Eric said Friday night.
Saturday Eric and the crew made their weekly trip to Jackson Speedway in Jackson MN and raced the Dick Veekners owned number 4. Eric would start in the back of the field on a track that threw the crew for a bit of a loop. “The track looked real tacky all night long so we didn’t make too many changes to the car.” However on the third lap of the 360 main, the track blew off and became slick with a nice cushion. You could see that the car was real lose for the condition of the track but Eric mustered as much out of it as possible working his way up to 7th! “Half way through the race I noticed the water temp climbing to about 230,” stated Eric, “but we had a caution and it cooled back down. After the race got back under way I noticed the temp was up again and tried to back off a bit to cool the motor and lost a four spots. That’s when I decided to bring it in and save it for next week.” Eric pulled in with three laps to go.
Eric Schulz racing is waiting for a new Barnes oil pump and the freshly rebuilt LL Woodke Race Engines 410 will be slid back between the frame rails of the 4X sprinter and taken out to try again. Stay posted to find out when all is set to return to 410 racing!
You will find Eric next at Sioux Speedway in Sioux Center IA with the HRA as they travel down for the annual fair race on Wednesday the 13th!
