Weekend Full of Good Racing

The weekend started off at the speedway in Rock Rapids for their 410 special. With high hopes, as the motor worked well the week before, Eric and the gang started out in the heat race on the tail end of the field. “I have a lot of laps in at this track, but none of them with a wing on, it is a lot different.” Stated Eric after pulling back into the pits. After the heat races were done, Schulz had put together a special promotion from Papik Motors and the HRA to through hats and shirts out into the crowd that were donated by Papik Motors! The crowd went nuts as Eric and a few of his crew members threw the apparel out into the stands. With the main event getting moved up due to threatening skies, the crew went hard to work reading the Papik Motors #4 winged sprinter, and Eric hit the track. It wasn’t long before the Automatic Transmission Service backed sprinter started moving up in position. Just then it was apparent that something was wrong. With no oil pressure, Eric was forced to pull in and retire from the race. “We have changed quite a few things trying to fix this problem, but it is still haunting us,” said Eric, “we will have to tear the motor all the way down and go over everything.”
Next up was Jackson Speedway driving for Dick Veekners out of Windom MN. They pulled into the track and could see that it was going to be a dry and slick race track. “We thought that this was a good sign, being short on power, this should even out the field a little.” The heat race went off with no problems and gave the team some valuable info on how the car was handling. Eric was slated for the 14th starting spot on the grid and raced hard up to 11th by the end of the night! “That was a lot of fun,” Eric could be heard saying to the car owner, “it was an elbows up type of battle!”
Eric had planned to return to Jackson with his own 410 sprinter this Friday, however with the motor woes that he is having, he is forced to park the 410 for awhile until it is fixed.
You can next see The Ricochet in action at Jackson Speedway this Saturday night. Be sure to follow Eric on facebook at facebook.com/ericschulzracing for more up to date info and pics!
