Drake Troutman drives to ninth in Wieland Winternationals finale at East Bay
With Mother Nature winning Monday’s opener, Drake Troutman returned to action on Tuesday with a visit to East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, Fla.) for the final Wieland Winternationals.
Against a stacked field of 75 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries for the week-long event, Drake lost ground in his heat race and was never able to recover, ending his night with a sixth-place finish in his B-Main.
On Wednesday, Troutman stormed into the $7,000-to-win prelim with a seventh-to-second showing in his consolation race. Pinned on the 11th row, Drake climbed to a 20th-place finish.
For a pair of events on Thursday, Drake used a provisional into the feature and went onto gain nine positions with an 18th-place showing.
During the same night for Monday’s rainout, Troutman was an early exit from his B-Main with two circuits remaining, ending his evening.
Relying on a provisional again into Friday’s main event, Drake passed 16 cars in the 50-lap affair to register a 13th-place finish.
Capping off the final Wieland Winternationals with his best run of the week on Saturday night, Troutman started the $15,000-to-win finale in 30th and wheeled all the way up to ninth.
