Friday the 13th Top-Ten Highlights Tulare Weekend

Craig Dollansky and the Destiny Motorsports #7 team shifted attention to Thunderbowl Raceway this past weekend as ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ aimed to score his first victory of the season similar to 2013 when the Elk River, Minnesota native scored his first win of the year.

Starting the night 9th fastest in qualifying around the ultra-fast 1/3-mile, the MonDak Portables #7 would start on the outside pole of heat four and rocket around the cushion to take the lead and ultimately the win of the eight lap event. Unaffected by the dash inversion draw, Dollansky started seventh in the dash and finished 8th.

In the 35-lap A-Main the Aggressive Hydraulics backed entry lined up outside row three and dropped a couple spots before a red flag on lap 12. Moving up to eighth after another red just three circuits later, Dollansky ran inside the top-ten battling with Taylor Malsam and Donny Schatz before taking the checkered flag in 9th.

“We showed some speed and that is encouraging for all of us as we continue working together to get our team competing for wins,” explained Dollansky. “We qualified well and that has been an area that we have struggled. We survived Friday night and were able to get a top-ten but really weren’t very competitive.”

Ready to go for another great day for racing in California on Saturday, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ once again started the program strong turning a lap of 13.010 seconds registering the 5th fastest lap of the 44 drivers on hand. Heat competition would see the Rick Rogers Construction Maxim finish 4th to transfer into the main event.

As the feature got underway at Thunderbowl Raceway, the Elk River, Minnesota native battled inside the top-ten but unfortunately was involved in an accident on lap 10 and forced the #7 to retire early from the A-Main.

“Saturday night we were able to get through a tough heat to lock ourselves in the feature,” commented Dollansky. “We were closer with our car and running in the top-ten when I was on the outside of a car that evidently didn’t know I was there and contact sent us into the wall breaking our frame and ending our night. I feel we had a car good enough to get us somewhere in the top-five which is a big improvement for us as Scott and I continue working together to get more handle on our cars. We have 80+ events to go so we just all need to continue working hard and making progress.”

Up next for the Destiny Motorsports #7 team are a pair of events at Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, CA beginning March 21st.
