Jerry Richert Memorial at Cedar Lake Yields Top-Ten

Following a strong weekend at the Jackson Nationals, TKS Motorsports traveled to Cedar Lake Speedway in Wisconsin as ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ made his third visit to the high-banked 3/8-mile with the National Sprint League and IRA Sprints as part of the Jerry Richert Memorial.

After getting a great feel for the track in hotlaps, the track dropped off a bit in qualifying and Dollansky registered the 24th fastest lap. Six cars inverted into each of four heat races would play favorable to the Casey’s General Stores Maxim however as Dollansky started on the pole of heat four and cruised to the win.

“We were quickest in hot laps but we changed a couple of things we shouldn’t have,” commented crew chief and car owner Troy Renfro. “The way the IRA format is though it saved us. We haven’t run many short tracks this year but we’re trying to get better at those and look towards next year.”

In the 30-lap A-Main the Aggressive Hydraulics backed entry lined up inside row four on the starting grid. When the green flag waved on the main event Dollansky ran inside the top-ten running high and low to find the groove that best suited his setup. After action was halted on lap 4 for the only caution, the Vahlco Wheels #2KS continued to hold position down the stretch and take the checkered flag with a top-ten finish in 8th.

“I didn’t make a very good qualifying lap and we weren’t really where we wanted to be with our car but fortunately we were able to win our heat and get into the redraw” commented the Elk River, Minnesota native. “After they completely watered the track right before the feature and left it for the cars to run it in I was reluctant to be aggressive the first few laps. Once the track surface was a little more predictable I tried different lines but wasn’t able to advance beyond eight.

“Our TKS team will be ready for the World of Outlaws this coming weekend. I’m really looking forward to both events with the progress our team has made as of late.”

This coming weekend the TKS Motorsports team plans for a pair of events with the World of Outlaws starting Friday in Spencer, IA and the following night outside Spring Valley, MN.
