Struggling for Speed in Las Vegas
The 2015 World of Outlaws schedule shifted to the West Coast this week as the Destiny Motorsports #7 team prepared for a pair of events in ‘Sin City’. Competing in forty-seven events at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas dating back to 1996, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ has captured 21 top-tens including 14 in the top-five.
After struggling for speed in qualifying to get the racing program underway, Dollansky started inside row four of heat one and finished 7th. Finishing outside the top-five meant the Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim would be forced to run the B-Main. Lining up outside row three on the starting grid, Dollansky ran sixth until a broken wheel center on lap nine retired the #7 from competition.
Regrouping for the FVP Outlaw Showdown finale on Thursday, Dollansky went out early to qualify but ended up registering the 21st fastest lap. Heat competition saw the MonDak Portables #7 race into the top-five to transfer into the main event. Starting deep in the pack for the 30-lap A-Main, Dollansky fought some mechanical issues that hampering his forward progress and pulled in towards the end of the feature.
“We really struggled both nights being off the pace a half a second or more qualifying each night,” commented the Elk River, Minnesota native. “We were making changes but really never had the speed needed. We broke a wheel center in the B-Main and were lucky we didn’t junk a car in the process. The second night we lost the brakes and I had a fuel line leaking on me. We will regroup and prepare for Tucson and get things sorted out to qualify better and put us in better positions.”
The Destiny Motorsports #7 team returns to action tonight at USA Raceway in Tucson, Arizona.
