Phillips snags Show Me Showdown prelim at Sweet Springs

For the Show Me Showdown in Memory of Dean Hatham, Waylon Phillips visited Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex (Sweet Springs, Mo.) for prelims on Thursday and Friday to kick off the three-day event.

Despite scratching from the Non-Wing portion on Thursday, Phillips steered to his third win of the season in the A-Class A-Main. He took command of the lead on the 11th circuit and paced the final 14 laps to secure the victory.

Following a seventh-to-first run in his Non-Wing heat race on Friday, Waylon clawed forward one spot in the feature to register a second-place finish, which came behind Brecken Reese.

On Saturday, Phillips notched a fourth-place finish in the A-Class finale but wasn’t able to get the Non-Wing Micro main event before threatening weather made an appearance.
