Waylon wheels to top-10 in A-Class A-Main at Sweet Springs
Waylon Phillips was back in action at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex (Sweet Springs, Mo.) on Thursday as the Keith Kunz Motorsports Challenge, in conjunction with POWRi, kicked off with prelims on Thursday and Friday leading up to Saturday’s $10,000-to-win Non-Wing Outlaw Micro main event.
Drawing 56 Non-Wing Outlaw Micros and 34 A-Class Micros, Phillps failed to qualfy for prelims on Thursday and Friday but was able to race his way into Saturday’s A-Class finale with a 12th-to-7th charge in his consolation race. Putting on another impressive showing in the 25-lap feature, Waylon passed 12 cars to register an eighth-place finish.
His bid for the $10,000-to-win Non-Wing Outlaw Micro A-Main drew to a close early on Saturday with a ninth-place outing in his B-Main.
