Waylon Phillips notches second win of 2023 at Sweet Springs

After his Taffs Carpets No. 67JR Micros sat idle the weekend prior due to Mother Nature, Waylon Phillips returned to action over the weekend and charged into victory lane in stellar fashion.

With the two-day weekend kicking off on Friday, Phillips ended the night with a pair of top-fives in the A-Class and Non-Wing Micro ranks. After passing four cars in both heat races, Waylon crossed the line in fourth in both features.

On Saturday, Waylon followed up a fourth-to-first run in his Non-Wing heat with a second-place finish in the feature.

Starting the A-Class A-Main in third via third-place outing in his heat race, Phillips powered ahead of Peyton White on the eighth circuit and paced the remainder of the 30-lapper to capture his second win of the season. He took the checkers 0.83 seconds ahead of Aubrey Smith with Keegan Brewer, Hank Soares, and Jimmy Staton rounding out the top-five finishers.
