Dover Increases Lead in MSTS Championship Standings After Top 10 at Jackson

Inside Line Promotions – JACKSON, Minn. (Aug. 20, 2019) – Jack Dover inched one step closer to another championship last Saturday when he scored a top-10 result at Jackson Motorplex.

The eighth-place finish gives Dover a 45-point lead in the Midwest Sprint Touring Series championship standings with five races remaining this season.

Dover, who was driving for Rick and Chris Bowers, opened the MSTS and Midwest Power Series show by winning a heat race after lining up on the outside of the front row. A sixth-place finish in the dash lined him up on the outside of the third row for the A Main.

“The way we had it set up it should have been spinning out in the corners, but it was too hooked up,” he said. “I’ve never ran anything like it. We’ve ran stiff cars and crazy stagger. I honestly thought I’d spin out and we were way too tight. Eighth place isn’t where we wanted to be, but it’s another top 10.”

The eighth-place result was Dover’s 19th top 10 of the season and 11th during MSTS competition. It was also his fourth top 10 of the season at Jackson Motorplex, where he ranks third in the championship standings – only nine points out of the lead.

Dover will return to action this Friday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., and Saturday at Off Road Speedway in Norfolk, Neb., with the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints and Midwest Sprint Touring Series. He enters the weekend leading the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints championship standings by eight points with six races remaining this season.

“We’re excited to go back to I-80,” he said. “We were pretty dominant the last time we were there and we’ve learned a lot more what the car likes since then. And I think we’ve ran at Off Road seven or eight times and we’ve won five of them so we can’t wait to get there, too.”
