Inside Line Promotions – JEFFERSON, S.D. (July 16, 2019) – Jack Dover scored his eighth podium finish of the season last Friday at Jackson Motorplex.

Dover, who was driving for Rick and Chris Bowers during the Midwest Power Series and Midwest Sprint Touring Series event at the oval in Jackson, Minn., maneuvered from fourth to second place during a heat race.

“You have to get a good jump on the start and make the first two laps your best laps,” he said. “Once you get spread out it’s tough to pass. I was able to get to second right away. That put us in the dash, but we missed the setup and ended up fourth.”

Dover lined up on the inside of the third row for the main event.

“We rode in fifth for about five laps,” he said. “On a restart we were able to get around two cars that went to the bottom. The racing lane was around the top so we rode up there. We held our line waiting for traffic, but every time we got to traffic the caution came out. We had a good battle with Trey Starks for the runner-up position though.”

Dover’s third-place run marked his third top five in three races at Jackson Motorplex this season.

He returned to his race car on Saturday for a Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints event at Park Jefferson International Speedway. Dover won a heat race after starting on the outside of the front row. That earned a spot into the feature redraw and he pulled the No. 5 to line up fifth.

“I flipped twice in one night,” he said. “About seven laps in I passed for fourth. I was trying to run down third and got off the track on the backstretch. I got into some water and had no control. It spun me backwards and caught the left rear and tipped me over. We were able to restart at the back of the field and about five laps after that there was a car stopped in turn four. A car turned down to avoid that car and I had nowhere to go. That sent me flipping two or three times.”

Dover was credited with a 15th-place finish.

He is scheduled to return to action this Friday at Jackson Motorplex before venturing to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday.
