Inside Line Promotions – DIXON, Calif. (June 16, 2020) – Blaine Baxter raced to his first top-five finish of the young season during the Super 600 Micro Sprint A Main Saturday night at Dixon Speedway.

“Our night went pretty well,” said Baxter, who also notched his fourth top-10 result of the season in as many starts. “We fought a tight car all night and I had to use a lot of brake. I eventually lost the brakes for a while in the A Main, but we still had a good finish.”

Baxter lined up seventh in the 19-car feature field.

“One lap in there was a huge pile-up in turns three and four and I missed it by about an inch,” he said. “That put me in fifth on the restart. I was able to pass another car for fourth and held that spot to the finish.

“The track was really fast and rough. Some of the ruts would bounce you three feet into the air. I almost flipped once in turns one and two so I was happy with a fourth-place finish.”

Baxter’s night began with the ninth quickest time in qualifying.

“My qualifying run wasn’t too bad, but I know I could’ve done better,” he said. “I missed the exit a little in each corner. I think if I would’ve been a little lower on my exits I could’ve made top three.”

His qualifying run slotted him in the fifth starting spot for his heat race.

“The track was really fast in the heat race and it was difficult to pass – pretty much follow the leader,” he said. “I was able to slip under a car when they got loose and picked up a spot to finish fourth.”

Next up for Baxter will be the Summer Sizzler at Delta Speedway in Stockton, Calif., this Friday and Saturday. It will be the track’s first event this year.

“I’m excited to return to race at Delta this weekend,” he said. “It’s a really technical track. It usually gets slick and I like to race on it when it’s like that.”
