Nichols notches first GRT Legends Late Model Series win at I-30!
(Centerville, AR) -- Derrick Nichols was in the right place at the right time, during and after the race, on the series' first trip to I-30 Speedway this past Saturday, May 8th.
Russellville's Jon Kirby took his #11K Kirby Specialties/Rocket XR 1 from outside of the 4th row home ahead of Nichols, took victory lane photos and retired to the pits before heading to tech.
Kirby returned to the tech area in the infield only to learn he was disqualified and second finishing Derrick Nichols and his #13N Nichols Logging/Rocket was credited with the $1,000 payday and the feature win.
Second went to the #21Bode Land Company/Pierce of Mark Nichols from Bono, AR, third place finisher Chandler Petty and his #89 Access Control Integration/Black Diamond had the field covered early on until a LR flat on lap 4 sent him pit side for fresh rubber. Terry Henson's #T2 and the #4Play 4Play Muffler Shop/GRT belonging to Eddie Hoyer rounded out the top 5.
