Blake Hahn Caps Off ASCS Regional Weekend With Diamond Park Victory
SAPULPA, Okla. (September 12, 2017) Picking up his fourth victory of the 2017 season, Blake Hahn parked the Lucas Oil/Griffith Truck and Equipment No. 52 at Diamond Park Speedway in Murfreesboro, Ark. on Sunday night to cap off a three day stretch of ASCS Regional competition.
“That win on Sunday was redeeming after the way our Saturday went,” commented Hahn whose weekend included a podium finish at Flint Creek Speedway on Friday, but was unable to advance past the B-Main on Saturday at I-30 Speedway.
“We ended up third at Flint Creek, and the car felt good, but something was off on Saturday. We just couldn’t get the car grab the track.”
Falling to eighth in his Heat Race, Blake started last in the B-Main before coming up two spots shy of the transfer.
"After that, we tried to focus on the Midget since we were starting on the front row, but as the race went on, the car kept getting looser and looser. It was frustrating because we usually work really well at I-30 Speedway.”
Salvaging a 10th place finish in the POWRi West Midget A-Feature, the team turned their attention to Sunday’s stop at Murfreesboro.
“I’d never been to Diamond Park, so to go in there and win was nice,” said Hahn. Asked what the team changed on the car, Blake explained that over the course of Saturday’s run, the left side shocks had bled off. “As soon as we got done, we took the shocks off and put them on the Dyno and the left side was nothing. Once we got them back where they needed to be, the car was right back where we wanted it and it showed on Sunday. I could pretty much run where ever I wanted, and it stuck.”
Looking to this weekend, the team is watching the weather and seeing what is racing close by as they also prepare for the Hockett/McMillin Memorial at Lucas Oil Speedway on September 21-23.
