Kids Bike Races & RUSH Sprint Car Series up next at PPMS

Join us at PPMS this Saturday, August 3, for an action-packed night of racing and family entertainment, featuring the RUSH Sprint Car Series, the Diehl Automotive RUSH Late Model Dirt Series, the PPMS Pro Stocks, the Keystone Coach Works Hobby Stocks, the Four Cylinders, and the Young Guns. Gates open at 5 p.m., hot laps begin at 6 p.m., and the racing action will commence at 7 p.m. This is also the night for kids of all ages to get in on the racing action and race their bicycles down the PPMS front stretch, helmets required.

The RUSH Sprint Car Series will make their fourth appearance at PPMS on Saturday, which will be their second week in a row at Dirt’s Monster Half-Mile. This past Saturday, July 27, saw John Mollick (4J), from Toronto, Ohio, pick up his first career RUSH Sprint Car Victory. Mollick (4J), is only the second RUSH Sprint Car Series driver to grab the checkered flag at PPMS since the inception of the series in 2018. Chad Ruhlman (87R), from Bemus Point, New York, has won every other feature. Ruhlman (87R) did not race at PPMS last Saturday, which cost him in the RUSH Sprint Car Series points race. Zach Morrow (27M), from Gibsonia, sits atop the leaderboard with 292 points, while Bryan Woodhall (8), from Apollo, is in second place with 289 points, only three points behind Morrow (27M). Mollick (4J) is only eight points out of first place with 284 points and is sitting in third place. Ruhlman (87R) has 200 points and is sitting in ninth place. The points race is wide open in the RUSH Sprint Car Series, which should make this Saturday that much more exciting to watch. You don’t want to miss it!

The Jook George Memorial for the Diehl Automotive RUSH Late Model Dirt Series is a little over a week away. Teams will be at Dirt’s Monster Half-Mile this Saturday for some test and tune action, in preparation for the $10,010 to win marquee event. The 2019 Jook George Memorial will be the highest paying RUSH Late Model race in the history of the series. Ben Policz (14B), from Rices Landing, sits atop the Diehl Automotive RUSH Late Model Dirt Series points race leaderboard with 726 points and has one feature win during the 2019 season. Christian Schneider (1ST), from Warren, Ohio, is a close second with 707 points. Two-time defending champion Justin Lamb (93X), from Findlay Township, sits in third place with 690 points, while John Mollick (60M), from Toronto, Ohio, is in fourth place with 688 points, and Nico Dabecco (F1), from Verona, rounds out the top five with 600 points. All five drivers are PPMS weekly drivers, but with names like Jeremy Wonderling (3J), from Wellsburg, New York, Michael Duritsky (90J), from Masontown, and Kyle Lukon (184), from Burgettstown, the 2019 Jook George Memorial will be one that you don’t want to miss. And, don’t forget about Colton Flinner (48), from Allison Park, Ryan Frazee (11F), from Addison, and this list could go on and on. 

The PPMS Pro Stocks have Danny Rich (67X), from Imperial, in first place with 713 points. Rich (67X), has two feature wins and has been running at the top of the pack all season. Mike Harris (18), from Bridgeville, has 686 points, and one win on the season. Heath Close (77H), from Shaler, is sitting in third place with 541 points. Close (77H), also races a Diehl Automotive RUSH Late model. A.J. Poljak (36), from Baldwin, is in fourth place with 437 points, while Robert Betz (81), rounds out the top five in PPMS Pro Stock points with 424 points. The PPMS Pro Stocks are always an exciting class to watch. 

Stephen Shelpman (17S), from Pleasant Hills, is the two-time defending Keystone Coach Works Hobby Stock champion. He is also in first place with 739 points. S. Shelpman (17S), has missed a few races due to his Army duties but he was smart about it, having backup drivers race his car in his absence, which kept him in the points race. Marcus Simmons (68X), from Beaver Falls, is only 17 points behind S. Shelpman with 722 points. Simmons (68X), is only in his second season as a Keystone Coach Works Hobby Stock driver. Casey Grumling (77X), from Elrama, has two feature wins on the season and is in third place with 704 points, only 18 points out of first place. Karlee Kovacs (221K), from Carnegie, is sitting in fourth place with 690 points. Kovacs (221k), once dominated the Young Guns Division at PPMS. S. Shelpman’s (17S) father, Ed Shelpman (17P), completes the top five in the Keystone Coach Works Hobby Stocks points race with 688 points. The Keystone Coach Works Hobby Stocks is a very competitive division and put on one of the best shows of the evening. You don’t want to miss them. 

The “Dominator” Andy Garlinger (R88), from Hopedale, Ohio, has won every Four Cylinder feature during the 2019 season and he is the 2018 defending champion. Garlinger’s (R88), domination has been top-notch and nobody can seem to stop him. Garlinger (R88), sits high atop the Four Cylinder points leaderboard with 740 points. Craig Rudolph (5R), from Steubenville, Ohio, is in second place with 504 points, giving Garlinger (R88), a 236 point lead. While sitting in third place, John Gill (19G), from Burgettstown, is only four points out of second place with 500 points. Tanya Charlier (21), from Midway, is in her rookie season in the Four Cylinder division. T. Charlier (21), is in fourth place with 356 points, while Jason Romine (71), rounds out the top five in Four-Cylinder points with 338 points. You don’t want to miss the Four Cylinders in action. 

Susie Rudolph (55), from Steubenville, Ohio, has been dominating the Young Guns division in 2019. S. Rudolph (55), has five Young Guns feature wins on the season and is sitting in first place with 726 points. Tony Magill (05), from Jefferson Hills, is in his sophomore Young Guns season and is in second place with 710 points, only 16 points out of first place. T. Magill (05), has two feature wins in 2019. Kyle Janas (88), from Coraopolis, is sitting in third and he is only two points out of second place and 18 out of first place with 708 points. Cameron Lambert (223), from Mars, is in fourth place with 425 points and Cameron Hollister (44), from McDonald, is in fifth place with 357 points. The Young Guns points race is still wide open this season!
