Tyler County Speedway Succumbs to Mother Nature Once Again
RUSH Late Model Tour Postponed to Next Saturday Night; Tuesday Night Test N’ Tune Slated
For the third consecutive week, Tyler County Speedway finds itself at the mercy of Mother Nature, delaying the much-anticipated start of the 2024 racing season at America’s Baddest Bullring. A relentless onslaught of precipitation over the past week has left the grounds and track too saturated to safely swing open the gates for the historic 50th season opener.
With near-record rainfall causing flooding along the Ohio River and unyielding cold temperatures forecasted for the weekend, the Hometown Racing Association faced the challenging decision to postpone the event for another week.
“We had to be smart given the current conditions of the facility and wanted to provide ample notice to the race teams and fans, many of whom would be traveling long distances for this weekend,” explained track promoter John Watson. “After consulting with Vicki Emig of the Rush Series, it became clear that next weekend offers a more favorable forecast and will afford us the necessary drying time to produce a more fan and racer friendly experience.”
The eagerly awaited RUSH Late Model Tour will now storm into the ‘Bullring’ on Saturday Night, April 13th, marking the official kickoff of the 50th season at Tyler County Speedway and the season opening event for the RUSH Tour with the highly anticipated $4,000 to win main event, along with all other classes in competition.
Ahead of next Saturday, racers will have the opportunity to work out the bugs during a mid-week Test N’ Tune on Tuesday Night, April 9th, ushering in the first laps of the season. With an early favorable forecast finally in our favor, gates will open at 5pm, followed by an open practice from 6-10pm. General admission will be free, while pit passes will be available for $25, and concessions will be served.
The Joe Dirt 100 Enduro race, originally scheduled for Saturday, March 30th will now be part of the regular race night program on Saturday Night, April 20th.
