Tyler Carpenter Continues Hot Streak at America’s Baddest Bullring & Scores First Topless 50 Victory

After a week off for the annual Tyler County Fair, the Hometown Racing Association would present the rescheduled 30th Annual Topless 50 featuring the ULMS Late Model Series at America’s Baddest Bullring on Saturday Night. A great crowd and some 130 race cars would head to the Tyler County Speedway on a picture perfect evening for racing. Lots of great side by side racing, lots of caution flags and some excited winners would highlight the evenings action.

In the nights main event, the 30th Annual Topless 50 presented by Pioneer Family Pre-Owned Autos of Williamstown would see 22 entrants take the challenge with Fairmont, WV’s Ryan Montgomery setting fast time while Montgomery, Logan Zarin and Michael Lake garnering ULMS Late Model heat race wins. The redraw would be kind to the ‘Kamikaze Kid’ Tyler Carpenter as the driver of the Kryptonite #28 would land on the front row. Carpenter would blitz off the point and take control early in the 50 lapper, slicing and dicing through lap traffic with virtual ease. Some fantastic racing behind Carpenter, per usual on the racey Bullring as all eyes was on 16th starting Jacob Hawkins, last years Topless 50 winner who was quickly navigating into the top five. As the race would play out and after a couple caution flags it was all Tyler Carpenter as the Parkersburg, WV racer would go on to score his first Topless 50 victory and add his name to the prestigious winners list. The talented shoe would also stay perfect on the season at Tyler County Speedway going five for five on the season, an impressive feat as we inch closer to the Labor Day classic Hillbilly 100. Following Carpenter across the line was a very fast Michael Lake, Jacob Hawkins with an impressive 16th to 3rd run, Luke Morey in his first Bullring effort was fourth and rounding out the top five was Ryan Montgomery.

In the companion UEMS Modified Topless 30 action it was a dandy as three different leaders would look poised to grab the victory. A strong field of 31 entrants would take to the highbanks and once the 20 car field was narrowed down it was Texas racer now calling North Carolina home Austin Self leading from the races outset. A great battle behind the leader as Shawn Jett and KC Burdette were in a side by side war. After a caution flag, Jett would assume the point and lead several laps while Burdette would work around Self and begin his charge on the leader. The duo would race side by side for several laps until Burdette would wrestle the lead away and become the 3rd different leader of the event. A tangle between Jett and Self would unfortunately end both racers evening and a shot at the win. With Burdette now at the point all attention was now on the impressive run of Kyle Thomas. Thomas piloting the Clegg owned 83 machine was a sight to see as the Pennsboro pilot was wheeling from the tail of the field all the way to the runner up spot. The KC44 would go on to grab the win as the Parkersburg racer would continue his exceptional season quickly approaching 30 wins on the season. Finishing behind Burdette was Kyle Thomas with an amazing run, another fine run by Tyler Stutler, current point leader Chad Smith and Cody Brightwell would round out the top five.

A nice fifteen car J&R Excavating RUSH Late Model main event would see Elkins, WV racer Ryan Hare score his fourth win of the season in his sharp looking #29 XR-1. Hare would have no trouble as the talented youngster would continue his breakout season. Finishing behind Hare was AJ Spagnoulo, Brian Nethers, Logan Reed and Kyle Thomas.

Marietta, Ohio’ s Wesley Reed would continue his stranglehold on the EQT Victory Lane at America’s Baddest Bullring. The likeable racer aboard the #95 would roll off the front row and set sail in the Middlebourne Galaxy Food Center Sportmod feature. Following Reed to the pay window was a fine run by Josalyn Hibbard, Kendall Hodge, Dalton Adkins, and Jeff Gorrell.

A great Sigler Fabrication Hotmod main event would see veteran and defending track champion Brian Probst work his way to the front from his 3rd starting spot to secure the win. Following Probst across the stripe was Steve Magyar, son Eddie Probst, Carson Thomas and Daniel Muldrew.

Newcomer Zach Kisner would pick up an impressive victory in the SCDRA 4 Cylinder class as the sharp looking #12 machine would have no trouble in picking up his first victory of the season at the Tyler County Speedway. Following the Middleport, Ohio racer was Joey Price, Bill Tennant, current point leader Mitch Eddy and Timothy Harlan.

In the Pathway Real Estate Professional Mini Wedge Senior division it was ‘Like Father Like Son’ as Karson Burdette would score the win ahead of Eli Smith and Joey Miller. In the Junior class it was Kolton Thomas scoring the W ahead of Rowen Brightwell and Aly Baker.
