Inside Line Promotions – FORT WORTH, Texas (Sept. 15, 2015) – Channin Tankersley capitalized on an opportunity that materialized late last week to compete at the Portacool U.S. National Dirt Track Championship on Saturday.

Tankersley teamed up with Bruce Griffith to race with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour at Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track, where the duo combined to capture a top-10 finish.

“It was going to be like six weeks until I was going to get back in my car so I got a wild hair to go up there and do that,” he said. “I could use the seat time and keep the rust off the ole driver. It turned out all right. We were working on a few things throughout the night and kept getting better.”

Tankersley led part of his heat race before placing second, which was good enough to lock him into the main event.

“I led about half of the heat race and then we had a restart,” he said. “We just didn’t have the motor running crisp like we wanted. We were lacking a little bit. Once they grouped everyone back up for the restart Seth Bergman got around me for the lead.”

That lined Tankersley up on the outside of the seventh row for the 40-lap main event.

“I got a good first start and was up to around fifth, but they called it back,” he said. “We got a decent start the next time. We passed quite a few cars and got passed by a few throughout the race. I think at one point we were up around fifth or sixth and a couple of cars got around us. I made a mistake about halfway through. It was rubber down pretty good. I was cruising trying to save the tires. The next thing I knew it was five laps to go and it was too late to make up a lot of ground.”

Tankersley ended with an eighth-place result, which was his 15th top 10 of the season.
