Tad Pospisil Takes SLMR Checkers

108 cars packed the pits at Stuart Speedway for the SLMR Late Models Presented by Dirt Track Bank, Conrad's Pillow Pets, Choice Inc., VIP Contractors, and Interstate Power Systems.
Outlaw Mini Mods were the first cars out for features and after a hard fought 12 lap battle it was Luke Daniels bringing home the win. Tanner and Matt Prehn finished in second and third with Kamdyn Haggard and Lukas Schroeder rounding out the top five.
Blair Simmons and Josh Sink brought the IMCA Northern SportMods to green, and it was Brayton Carter working his way to the lead at the halfway point. Matt Webb put up quite a fight, but Carter was strong as he went on to take the win. Webb, Dusty Masolini, Tyler Inman and Cam Reimers were the rest of the top five finishers.
SLMR Late Models did battle through time trials, heats and b-features to set the 24 car field for their 35 lap feature. Jake Neal and Charlie McKenna earned the front row and it was McKenna showing the way early. Justin Kay took over as McKenna was doing battle in lap traffic just past the halfway point, but lurking behind was Tad Pospisil. Kay was working lap traffic as Pospisil worked the bottom side and shot into the lead with around 10 to go. Kay gave it his all but it was not to be with Pospisil going on to the win. Bill Leighton finished in second with Kay third, Kyle Berck fourth and Jason Hahne fifth.
Next up was the IMCA Stock cars with Brad Derry and Shawn Ritter on the front row. Mike Nichols jumped to the lead on lap one and after a couple of cautions Nichols looked to cruise to the win, but a caution on lap 17 bunched the field and gave 11th starting Damon Murty a shot. The top two put on a show over the last two laps and it was Nichols with a couple of strong moves to hang on to the lead and take the win by a half a car length. Murty finished in second with Todd VanEaton, Josh Daniels and Buck Schafroth the rest of the top five.
IMCA Modifieds were last up with John Davis and Scott Bash leading the field to the green flag. Ricky Thornton Jr took over the pole position when Davis dropped to the tail before the start of the feature. One caution on lap eight was all that slowed Thornton Jr as he sailed to the win. Tom Berry Jr finished in second with Todd Shute third, Josh Gilman fourth and Matthew Meinecke fifth.
We want to thank all of the drivers, crew and fans for coming out for this big event. Next Tuesday the USMTS Modifieds come to the speedway, see you then!
