Kade Morton Gains Experience in POWRi Outing, Returning to ASCS Action This Weekend

COWETA, Okla. (April 6, 2016) In only his seventh time behind the wheel of a Midget, Kade Morton took on the Lucas Oil POWRi Midgets at Tulsa's Port City Raceway this past weekend with less than what the young driver was expecting.
Friday’s saw Morton up to second in his Heat before slipping to fourth. Putting the Morton Excavating No. 8m into a B-Feature, Kade managed a ninth place finish. Saturday night’s Heat Race finish of sixth was another trip to a B-Feature, but Morton was able to better his run from the previous night to sixth.
“Friday night, the car was fast, the driver was just in the way. Saturday was about the same. It’s hard to get around Port City but more than anything, I just need to get more laps in the Midget. The whole weekend was a learning experience so even though I’m not happy with the results, we have something to build on,” said Morton.
Putting the Midget aside for now, Morton will turn his attention to the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products this Friday, April 8 at the Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla. and Superbowl Speedway in Greenville, Texas on Saturday, April 9.
In the 2015 pairing of the two quarter-mile ovals, Morton finished fifth and Creek County and 18th at Superbowl Speedway.
The 2016 season for Kade Morton will be a mixture of full time ASCS Red River action, OCRS Sprints, and Midget events throughout the mid-west. Kade’s racing adventures would not be possible without the help of his sponsors: Morton Excavating, Yocham Trucking, Whitacre Glass Works, MyRacePass.com, Wesmar, STK Racing Engines, Lucas Oil, Maxim Chassis and Super Shox.
