Mother Nature Claims Second Checker at Ohio Valley Speedway

While the 2021 racing season at Ohio Valley Speedway got off to a great start with the first three events taking the green its been Mother Nature parking it in victory lane the past two weeks. For the second week in a row the Ohio Valley Speedway has been forced to cancel the event scheduled for Friday Night, May 7th. Due to extremely saturated grounds, a high chance of more rain and unseasonably cool temps. The wet weather the last two weeks have really been a challenge, leaving track crews little to no time to properly prep the racing surface and of course we must be mindful of being proper neighbors to the community by minimizing damage to adjacent parking areas and dragging mud onto Rt. 68.

A big month of stellar events is just ahead at the ‘Valley’ as next Friday Night, May 14th we feature the first Super Late Model special of the season as we present ‘Topless Dirt Late Model Mania’! We go Topless at the ‘Valley’ for $3,000 to win along with the Topless Steel Block Late Models and a third class of Topless Late Models as the Fastrak Late Models also make an appearance. What’s better than a Topless Late Model race? How about three of them!

On Friday Night, May 21st we welcome the best open wheel racers of the UMP Modified division to the ‘Valley’ for the prestigious running of the 13th Annual Greg Schilling Memorial. Featuring a terrific purse in excess of $14,000 and always a great race in honor of former racer and friend Greg Schilling.

Wrapping up the month of May in a big way as the ‘Valley’ will play host to a Memorial weekend doubleheader of action as on Friday Night, May 28th the OVSCA Sprints return along with the running of the WV State Championship $2,500 to win SCDRA 4 Cylinder special. Following with a first time ever event at the ‘Valley’ as on Saturday Night, May 29th we play host to the Monster Truck Racing League in a first ever family friendly Monster Truck show!
