Racing Action at Murray County Speedway

Friday August 5th was an amazing night for racing action at the Murray County Speedway. The Late Model Street Stock Touring series made an appearance at the speedway. The races were sponsored by DeBoer Chevrolet out of Edgerton.

MCRA S&S Electric Pickups
Matt Odom and Jon Joehnck led the field to the start. As the green flag drops Odom jumps out to the early lead. Joehnck challenges Odom for the lead. Odom falls back. Jordan Rolling makes his way around Odom for second place. Joehnck is able to hold off for the win with Rolling and Odom following close behind.

IMCA Last Chance Auto Parts Sport Compacts
Robert Pottratz and Jacob Hoflock lead the field onto the track. Once the green flag was in the air Hoflock jumps out to the early lead. Neil Forsberg and Pottratz go side by side for second place. Jason Bolte makes his way around Joe Bunkofske for fifth place. Bolte makes his way around Pottratz for fourth place. A caution is out for Pottratz losing a tire. On the restart Bolte and Forsberg go side by side for second place behind Hoflock. A caution is out for Bolte. On the restart Hoflock jumps out front. Forsberg, Tori Groebner, and Joshua Uhl go three wide for fifth place. Groebner takes the fifth place. Hoflock takes the win, with Ryan Westman taking second place with Forsberg and Matt Smith following close behind. After the post-race inspection, Hoflock is disqualified for an illegal engine.

IMCA Bolluyt Trucking Hobby Stocks
Jeremy Johnson and Derek Platt lead the field onto the track. As the green flag drops Platt jumps out to the early lead. Matthew Hanson and Corey Groenwald go side by side for third place, with Groenwald passing into third. Trevor Holm challenges Groenwald for third place. Johnson falls back into a Battle for second with Holm and Groenwald. Holm pulls away with second place. Hanson makes his way into fourth place. Dan Strandberg makes his way into fifth place. Cory Probst challenges Strandberg for fifth place. A caution is out for debris in turn one. On the restart Holm jumps out with the lead. Eric Gillette and Groenwald battle it out for fourth place. Gillette is able to take it. Groenwald, Hanson, and Probst go three wide for fifth place. Hanson pulls off the track. A caution is out for Probst entering the spin cycle but will be charged on Groenwald. On the restart Holm pulls away out on front. Holm hold off for the win with Strandberg and Gillette following close behind.

IMCA Sturdevant’s Auto Supply Northern Sport Mods
Jim Gregorie and Dennis Gates lead the field to the start. On the start Gregoire jumps out front with the lead. Gates and Travis Pierson go side by side for second place. Pierson pulls away with second. Brycen Johnson passes Gates for the third place position. Ed Leonard passes Gates for fourth place. A caution is out for debris on the track. On the restart Gregoire jumps out from again. Danny Myrvold passes Devon McMartin for fifth place. Johnson makes his way around Pierson for second place. Leonard and Myervold go side by side for fourth place. A caution is out for Johnson entering the spin cycle. The caution will be charged on Pierson sending him to the back. It will be single file on the restart. Leonard makes his way around Gregoire for the lead. Myervold passes Gregoire for second place. Leonard is able to hold off for the win with Myervold and Gregorie following close behind.

IMCA Sign Pro/Car Toyz Stock Cars
Mike Carlson and Devin Kuehne lead the field to the green. As the green waves Kuehne jumps out front. Kevin DeBaere and Levi Feltman go side by side for second. A caution is out for Kuehne entering the spin cycle. On the restart DeBaere pulls out front. Jake Bruns Challenges Feltman for second place. Bruns pulls away and challenges DeBaere for lead. Feltman makes his way around Bruns and DeBaere for the lead. A caution it out for DeBaere. On the restart Kuehne jumps out front. The race will be finished under caution. Kuehne takes the win with Bruns and DeBaere following.

Dan Jensen and Brandon Ferguson lead the field to the start. As the green flag drops Jensen pulls away with the lead. A caution is out. On the restart Ferguson jumps out from with the lead. Zach VanVoorst and Brylee Gough go side by side for third place. Gough pulls away with it. Gough, Jensen and Travis Schreurs battle for second place. A caution is out for a major pile up in turns one and two. On the restart Ferguson jumps out with the lead. Jesse Akkerman and John Hoing battle for third place. Schreurs challenges Ferguson for the lead. Akkerman takes the third place position. Darrin Korthals challenges Gough for fourth place. Ferguson is able to hold off with the lead. A caution is out. On the restart Schreurs jumps out front. Tim Dann and Gough battle for fourth place. Dann is able to take it. Dann challenges Jensen for the third place position. Dann pulls away and pass Ferguson for second. Schreurs is able to hold off for the win with Dann and Cory Yeigh following close behind.
Friday August 12th races will be sponsored by Avoca Spray, Rowdy’s Repair and Miller Sneller. The H.O.T.R.O.D. Touring series will be making an appearance. This will be Kids Nights, with a drivers autograph session, car rides at intermission and a free school backpack for the first 300 kids.
