Johnson Tops NASCAR Latemodels on O'Reilly Auto Parts Night

Hearty racers and race fans braved the triple digit temperatures at Magic Valley Speedway on Saturday, July 13, as the high-banked third-mile oval hosted the O’Reilly Auto Parts Night at the Races. The Western Mountain Inc. NASCAR Latemodels, Speed Tour Modifieds powered by Pit Stop USA, Pepsi Sprintcars, Project Filter Mini Modifieds, McDonalds Street Stocks, and Project Filter Pro-4s battled to beat the heat and each other as they raced for vital midseason victories.

The Speed Tour Modifieds powered by Pit Stop USA saw Johnathon Gomez continue his winning ways. Gomez wheeled his Western Mountain, Inc., Dairy Queen modified to victory over Zach Webster, quick-qualifier Donovan Barr, Shawn Price, and Jason Quale.

The Western Mountain Inc. NASCAR Latemodels joined forces with the Project Filter Pro-4s for their feature race. When all was said and done Western Mountain, Inc. NASCAR Latemodel runner Daniel Johnson sat parked in the winner’s circle. Jordan Harris piloted his Kim’s Kars, H&H Auto Sales-sponsored Project Filer Pro-4 mount to a second-place finish ahead of Shawn Lester, Sam Harris, and Jon Harris.

McDonald’s Street Stock racer Mitch Pehrson tallied yet another feature win for his Donate Life, Praxair racer on O’Reilly Auto Parts Night at the Races. Though Pehrson had his sights set on a Saturday night sweep, Ronn McClimans had other ideas and piloted his Advantage Archery, Kidd Performance machine to victory in the division’s second feature.

Casey Tillman continued to be red hot in a non-wing sprintcar Saturday. Tillman piloted his YMC Inc., All Phase Painting-backed Pepsi Sprintcar to the feature victory. Nate Little came home second ahead of Jordan Harris, Jett Nelson, and Daytona Wurtz.

The Project Filter Mini Modified racer Amanda Burlingame entered O’Reilly Auto Parts Night at the Races undefeated. But Cecil Miles overthrew Burlingame to become only the second person to score a Project Filter Mini Modified feature win this season.

Next on the Magic Valley Speedway schedule is the two-day Stinker Skunk Cup featuring the Speed Tour Sprint Cars powered by Pit Stop USA on Friday and Saturday, July 19 and 20. Alongside the winged sprintcars, the Western Mountain Inc. NASCAR Latemodels, NASCAR Trucks, Magic Valley Speedway Midgets, Budweiser Bombers, Quale’s Electronics Stingers, Vintage Sprintcars, McDonald’s Street Stocks, and the Magic Valley Speedway Hornets pack the pit area for a mid-summer doubleheader.
