Beiler carries narrow lead into Big Ten Street Stocks battle at Macon Speedway Saturday
MACON, Ill. – Bobby Beiler takes a narrow two-point lead in Big Ten Series Street Stocks to famed Macon Speedway Saturday night, where Terry Reed will take aim on wrestling away the lead. While Travis Johnson scored his second win in the series Friday night at Jacksonville Speedway, Reed captured second place while Beiler was fifth in the feature.
Beiler and Reed have been toward the top of the standings all season, and they form a two-man race for the title and the $1,000 from a prize fund that goes to the series champion. Beiler lives in Blue Mound while Reed resides in Decatur. They have demonstrated some amazingly clean racing for how close they’ve battled all season. But the stress level is going up as the number of races in the series dwindles. The final street stocks event is Aug. 30, when the Griz 98.1 Fan Appreciation Night features the Illinois Street Stocks Championship and the Big Ten Street Stocks finale.
Here’s the Big Ten Street Stocks standings heading into the Aug. 23 race at Macon Speedway. A driver’s best eight finishes among the 10 races determines the final standings.
