CEFCU Kid's Club to take ride on famous Macon Speedway dirt track Saturday
MACON, Ill. – CEFCU Kid’s Club will get a thrill Saturday night when the youngsters take a look at Macon Speedway from the other side of the fence. The kids get a chance to take a ride on a school bus around the famous fifth-mile dirt track during the night’s program.
It’s fun. It’s easy. Just get your kids to the CEFCU Kid’s Club in the pavilion. The time of the ride will be announced during the evening. The kids will load up just north of the pavilion at the adjacent pit gate. They will take a ride around the famous speedway. Moms and Dads better bring the camera, because those kids will want a snapshot as a keepsake for decades. There’s also a candy drop at intermission.
It’s all part of Taylorville Chamber of Commerce Night and Bud Light Ladies Night, presented by Y103. Taylorville businesses will be in the grandstands to have some fun and perhaps make some new friends and customers. All ladies are admitted for half price, and the gals from Woody’s will race in a five-lap shootout with the top two drivers advancing to the Bud Light Ladies Night championship race on Sept. 13. There’s also some Bud merchandise that will fly into the crowd, so keep your head up when you’re not grabbing a cold one from one of those beer buckets.
Gates open at 5 p.m. Racing starts at 7. Macon Speedway is located nine miles south of Decatur on Route 51. Turn west on Andrews Street, then right on Wiles. Parking is free.
