(Kansas City, Kansas) This Friday at Lakeside Speedway features Kid’s Night at the Races presented by Travelers Protective Association (TPA) and continuation of the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts weekly series. The race program includes A-Mods, B-Mods, Stock Cars, Pure Stocks, and E-Mods. The first 100 kids under 12 through the gate will receive free school supplies. Kids also have a chance to win bicycles and tablets and compete in foot races on the track during the intermission break courtesy of TPA and the speedway.
Point’s racing continues through the end of August at the speedway and a brief look at the standings shows some close competition to earn top honors. The closest being in B-Mods as Mark Schafman of Edwardsville, Kansas, holds a one-point lead over Luke Nieman with Tim Powell just 10 points back. Marshall Jewett holds a 21-point lead over Don Marrs in Pure Stocks with Spencer Reiff within striking range 33 points back. Nic Bidinger sits securely on top of the A-Mod contingent with Randal Schiffelbein, Jr., 70 points out. Six-time winner Kacey Shields has a 111-point lead over Jaylen Wettengel in the Stock Cars. Trevor Hand leads Dennis Melvin by 129 points in E-Mod competition.
Friday’s timeline: Pit gate opens at 5 p.m. followed by grandstand admissions beginning at 6 p.m. The driver pill draw closes at 6:45 followed by the pit meeting at 7, practice hot laps at 7:15, and racing approximately 7:45.
Friday ticketing: General Admission: Adults (16+) $15, Seniors/Military $12, Juniors (12-15) $5, Under 12 Free. Suites: Adults (13+) $20, Kids (2-12) $10, Under 2 Free. Terrace: Adults (16+) $15, Seniors and Military $12, Juniors (12-15) $5, Under 12 Free. For Suite and Terrace availability call (913) 299-9206. Friday Pit Pass: 7 and Older $35, Under 7 $15. All kids 17 and under must have signed Minor Release to enter the pit area.
For those unable to make it in person, you may watch the event live via pay-per-view by pointing your web browser to www.lakesideSpeedway.TV. Once on the website, in the top left area of the page next to the Lakeside Speedway logo, click on “Upcoming Live” and from there select the event from the menu that appears and follow the payment prompts and questions. The fee is $19.99.
