Billings Jr., Bidinger, Powell, Anderson, and Ingram Capture Lakeside Speedway Wins!

(Kansas City, Kansas) Eighty race times filed into Lakeside Speedway on Friday for the annual Janet Billings Memorial. It was a full night of action with Pure Stocks as the highlighted class. A-Mods, B-Mods, Stock Cars, and E-Mods also raced for the checkers throughout the night.

In the featured Pure Stock Janet Billings Memorial race, those who left early are waking up to the news that Garry Billings, Jr., was declared the winner after post-race technical inspection led to the disqualification of apparent winner Dennie Belknap in violation of the valve lash rule. Billings had originally started the event on the pole as Belknap moved to the front of the field from third.

Chase Galvan stayed in the mix despite heavy smoke billowing from his machine until he slipped from second to fourteenth by race end. The rest of the top five included drivers who started further back on the grid. Darrion McLaughlin made his season debut at Lakeside Speedway a good one as the Excelsior Springs, Missouri, driver advanced from fifth to second, Jason Park from seventh to third, Spencer Reiff from eighth to fourth, and Don Marrs from tenth to fifth. The victory was Billings’ second of the season since his recent return to action.

In A-Mod action, Nic Bidinger kept his recent surge going with his eighth victory in twelve main events. Bidinger captured his latest victory from pole position by fending off Darron Fuqua, who finished second from fourth at the start. Gunner Martin added another strong NASCAR Weekly Series points run to his season with a third-place finish. Justin Johnson rallied in the 15-lap race to come away fourth with Paden Phillips consistent in fifth.

Tim Powell secured his fifth B-Mod victory of the season in yet another classic battle near the front with National NASCAR Weekly Series point’s chaser Terry Schultz in second. The class continues to provide the fiercest competition. Season champion Mark Schafman finished third while upstart Sebastian Wolfenbarger continued to impress with a solid move forward from ninth to finish fourth. Kyle Henning was fifth.

It appeared 2021 Track Champion Kacey Shields was going to secure his eighth win of the season but in the closing seconds of the Stock Car main event, it was Kevin Anderson who took the checkers in close finish after late-race events changed the outlook of the race. The win was Anderson’s second of the season. Shields settled for second with ninth-starting Josh Everhart, Thomas Ground, and Jason Park closing out the top five.

Outside row one starter Eddie Ingram fought hard for his third win of the season with fellow front-row starter Steven Makar in the 15-lap E-Mod main, Makar eventually took second. Although Ingram had just seven starts this season at Lakeside Speedway, his latest win adds to his name as a threat for fellow E-Mod competitors. Chris Dishong, Buz Kaster, and Justin Bell stayed in the mix as they started and finished inside the top five.
