Wade Taylor Leads Entire Second Night At Willamette; Sixth Different Winner Of 2017 Wild West Modified Shootout

Lebanon, Oregon- The cars and stars of the IMCA Modifieds would invade Willamette Speedway on Friday, June 30th. The event would be the seventh race of the 2017 Wild West Modified Shootout and the second consecutive race at Willamette Speedway. Forty-three cars would enter the pit area from the states of Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, and Montana as well as the Canadian province of British Columbia.

Wade Taylor would draw the pole starting position of the feature and would jump out to the early race lead on the opening start. The Elko, Nevada native would have the field covered as he kept his mount in front of the pack and win the feature. Taylor would become the sixth different winner of the week, sixth different Mod Speedweek winner at Willamette, nineteenth different winner with the Wild West Modified Shootout, and is the first driver from the state of Nevada to win a race with the series.

Jesse Williamson, of Eugene, was yet again the runner-up while Albany’s Bricen James placed third. Fourth across the line would be Winnemucca, Nevada’s Cory Sample and fifth finishing John Campos, from Keizer.

Heat races in the first round were won by Joey Price, Kellen Chadwick, Mark Wauge, Brian Thompson, and Ethan Dotson. Brad Martin, Jesse Williamson, Bricen James, Cory Sample, and Ethan Dotson were victorious in round two. Two consolation features were ran which were won by Nick Trenchard, from Klamath Falls and driving for Rick and Nikki Biehn, and Port Hardy, British Columbia’s Lawrence O’Conner.

Willamette Speedway will host the eighth and final race of the 2017 Wild West Modified Shootout. Pit Gates open at 1:00 PM, Front Gates 3:30, and Racing at 6:00. Tickets are $14.00 for Adults, Junior/Military/Senior $10.00, Youth (6-12) $5.00, 5 and Under FREE, and a Family Pass (2 Adults and up to 4 Youths) $35.00.
