Jeff Taylor wins Duel in the Desert qualifier

Continuing on his western swing, Jeff Taylor trekked to Las Vegas Motor Speedway (Las Vegas, Nev.) on Tuesday afternoon to kick off preliminary action for the Karl Chevrolet Duel in the Desert. Drawing a stout field of 138 IMCA Modifieds for four qualifying features, Taylor marched through the field nine spots in his heat race to register a second-place finish. Rolling to his fifth win of the season in the feature from the pole, Jeff topped Ethan Dotson, Chris Morris, Brian Cross, and Jeremy Payne at the line to secure his spot into Saturday’s main event. For another round of qualifiers on Wednesday, Jeff jumped up four spots in his heat to place second. Starting his preliminary feature in third, Taylor ran into a right-front shock issue that resulted in an early exit.

On Thursday, Taylor’s fifth-to-third run in his heat race pinned him eighth on the starting grid for his qualifier. Dropping outside the Top-10, Jeff logged a 16th-place outing.

Starting Saturday night’s $5,000-to-win Duel in the Desert finale in 15th, Jeff dropped four positions in the 25-lapper to finish 19th.
