I-90 Speedway announces procedure update

Officials with I-90 Speedway are making a procedural change that will be implemented at the next event on August 17 in a move to improve overall racing quality and value.

The hobby stocks, B-modifieds and late model street stocks will continue to use delaware double file restarts in A-features. However, at 15 minutes from the original green flag, all restarts will be single file with a cone in turn four. At the 15 minute mark, the work area will also be closed.

“This update is a great change for our teams and fans,” said Rod Pattison, general manager of I-90 Speedway. “Teams still get opportunities for double-file restarts that ensure two- and three-wide racing at the wave of the green. Fans and drivers love that action. It’s also a compromise for late in the time limit to give teams the best chance to get all the laps counted before the time expires.”

The 20 minute time limit remains in place. Races are shortened to two laps to go at the first caution after the 20 minute mark.

“We want everyone to know that we are still working to improve our program every single week,” added Pattison. “This update is proof of that. We evaluate every aspect of our show and strive to make improvements that will benefit everyone.”

Track officials can call for single file restarts at any time in conditions warrant that decision.

The change does not affect the IMCA sprint cars our touring divisions.
