McCowan runner-up in Hell Tour stop at Springfield Raceway
In attendance for another week of Hell Tour competition, Dillon McCowan followed the DIRTcar Summer Nationals to Springfield (Mo.) Raceway on Tuesday afternoon.
With 29 Late Models signed in for the week three opener, McCowan topped his qualifying group before finishing runner-up in his heat. Rolling off fifth for $5,000, Dillon made up three positions and landed on the podium in second.
Wednesday's event at Tri-City Speedway (Granite City, Ill.) was rained out.
Checked in at Macon (Ill.) Speedway for the Herald and Review 100, Dillon was victorious in the first heat race which earned him the pole position for the 100 lapper. Surviving a tough and lengthy feature event, McCowan came home seventh.
With $10,000 up for grabs at Farmer City (Ill.) Raceway on Friday, McCowan scored a Top-10 finish in sixth before a more forgettable night at Highland (Ill.) Speedway on Saturday as he finished outside the Top-10 in 12th.
Wrapping up the third week on the Hell Tour, McCowan earned the pole position for the $5,000-to-win A-Main and led the first nine laps. Eventually giving up the lead to Tyler Erb, Dillon hung on for a podium position in third.
McCowan finished fourth in the weekly points chase.
