DJ Myers Wins and secures a guaranteed spot in the KRS Graphics Appalachian Mountain Speedweek Series event at the Hagerstown Speedway
The Hagerstown Speedway kicked off its 2016 season with a bang. DJ Myers who started 3rd in the Hoosier Tire Super Late Model feature, found his way to victory lane which also secured a spot in the KRS Graphics Appalachian Mountain Speedweek Series event on June 11th at the Dirt Capitol. Andy Anderson who started on the pole and was running away from the field lost a motor midway through the feature which allowed Myers to take the point. Matt Cosner who started 7th had made his way to 2nd was putting all the pressure he could to rattle Myers but in the end it was Myers claiming the victory. Kenny Pettyjohn started 10th made his way through the field to finish 5th which in return put pressure on Jaime Lathroum and Marvin Winters.
Myers in victory lane, “this is a good win for us. We needed this.” DJ also noted that his car needed a little bit more work but he would be back next week.
In the Cochran Auctioneers Late Model Sportsmans feature Paul Cursey, Justin Weaver and Kyle Lear put on a spectacular show. Lap after lap Cursey was working the high line as Weaver controlled the lead. Lear was laying back in a very close 3rd ready to take advantage of any mishap. Finally midway through the feature Cursey takes the lead and never looks back. Alan Sagi who had a good run near the end of the feature started 8th finished 4th.
Logan Roberson dominated the MBH Crate Late Model feature by leading the most laps with pressure from Steve Lowery, Lindsey Barton and Tyler Bare. Roberson started on the outside front row and ran the outside line most of the race. Near the end Tyler Bare moved from 5th into 2nd but could not make the pass on the number 17 of Roberson. Logan in victory lane, “I hate not having my Dad here but he is always a big help.”
Chris Ebersole takes the checkered flag in the pure stocks. Ebersole who is the 2015 points champion in the pure stocks noted in victory lane that he knew Jaime Zentmyer, Craig Parrill and Kyle Martin were pressuring him.
The E-mod Division was filled with tons action. Jonathon Taylor takes the win but Rick Hulson stole the show. Rick started 6th found himself in 2nd midway through the event and out comes a caution. On the restart Hulson and Goodman make contact putting Hulson to the tail end. With 5 to go Hulson races his way back to 2nd. Taylor stated in victory lane that he plans to race at the Hagerstown Speedway most of the season.
The Hagerstown Speedway will be back in action on April the 2nd with its first 2016 points race featuring the Super Late Models, Late Model Sportsmans, Pure Stocks, Hobby Stocks and the All American Outlaws. Warm-ups will be at 7pm with racing at 7:30pm.
