Inside Line Promotions – ORANGEVILLE, Pa. (April 17, 2019) – Joey Amantea is looking forward after last Saturday’s action at Greenwood Valley Action Tracks, where he followed up two top fives during the previous weekend with a DNF and a 13th-place finish this go-around.

"It was a weekend I'd rather forget," he said. "It was rough to say the least. The track was really rutty and it got the best of me, but that's just the early season. Everyone has to race the same track."

Amantea sees the silver lining and remains positive despite his trials last weekend, which began with a rainout on Friday at Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, Pa. Although the main events on Saturday at Greenwood Valley Action Tracks didn't go the way he had hoped, the heat races left Amantea with a positive vibe.

In the non-wing heat race Amantea was able to climb up to third from the sixth starting spot. On his charge to the top three he took to the high side, passing each car by going the long way around – a good four car lengths higher on the track.

In his winged heat race Amantea started eighth and ran sixth most of the time. When two drivers in front of him got locked into a battle driving each other up the track, Amantea capitalized and made the two-for-one pass on the bottom. In both classes his performance was enough to advance directly to the main event.

"The heat races were probably the highlight of the night," he said. "At least in the heats I drove well enough to remain confident. It's tough to make mains at Greenwood. There are a lot of really good guys there and just making a main out of the heat is a big deal."

In the main events tough track conditions got the best of Amantea. After starting the non-wing main eighth, Amantea quickly found himself up in the ruts. Eventually he caught a rut so hard it lifted the car and sent him straight into the wall, leading to the DNF.

In the winged main event Amantea fought similar track conditions. He hit another rut so hard it spun the car out. Despite his bad luck Amantea recovered to bring home a 13th-place finish.

"I'm just really bummed because I think had we not crashed we could have won," he said. "I have a lot of confidence in our program. We have shown potential. We have speed. It just all needs to come together on one night."

Amantea turns his focus to racing at Linda's Speedway this Friday night and Hamlin Speedway in Hamlin, Pa., on Saturday.
