Amantea Kicking Off Busy Season This Weekend in Winged and Non-Wing Competition
Inside Line Promotions – MOUNT POCONO, Pa. (April 2, 2019) – Joey Amantea is about to embark upon the biggest season of his career.
Amantea has 75-plus micro sprint races on tap beginning this weekend when he will compete on Friday at Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, Pa., and on Saturday at Greenwood Valley Action Tracks in Orangeville, Pa.
“I’m really excited,” he said. “The track last Friday (during a practice night) was really good at the start and then got really rutty. We’re used to that and we’ve learned how to drive on it. Both tracks this weekend are really fun. There’s a lot of heavy hitters there so it’s really exciting.”
Amantea is in his third year of racing micro sprints and the plan is to compete in both winged and non-wing action. In fact, he’ll be behind the wheel of both types of race cars on Saturday after competing in only the non-wing division on Friday.
“I want to get a good finish,” he said. “I’d like to win for a lot of reasons, one of them being my grandfather just passed away and he never got to see me win. I’d like to get a win for him.
“My goal is to get a top 10 both nights. We want to aim for consistency.”
