DAVIE FRANEK PADS POINT LEAD WITH URC SPRINT WIN

The United Racing Club Sprint Cars made their second appearance this season as part of S.R. Pete & Sons Night at the Delaware International Speedway. Heats for the 17 cars were won by Davie Franek and Ryan Stillwagon.

In the 25-lap feature, Chris Coyle in the Fred Kennedy No. 56 jumped out to the early lead with Adam Carberry running in second. Point leader, Davie Franek started in the fourth spot and had just pulled into third when Stillwagon came to a stop bringing out the yellow.

Franek took the lead on the restart and pulled away from the field. By lap 21 he had over a six second lead but lap 22 would erase that. First J.R. Berry came to a stop to bring out the yellow. On the restart Davey Sammons, who was running in fifth got crossed up in the pack and spun bringing the yellow out once again.

On the third restart of the lap, Justin Whittall and Carberry locked together down the front straight with Carberry getting over on his side. Whittall was sent to the pits for the contact and Carberry was uninjured but done for the night.

Franek would have no problems leading the final three circuits to post his sixth win of the season and increase his point lead. Curt Michael got by Coyle on the final lap to finish in second with Coyle third. Fourth went to Troy Betts and Brett Michalski rounded out the top five.
