ELLIOTT’S WIN TOTAL CLIMBS TO 10 IN SUPER LATE MODELS

Elliott10Ricky Elliott’s stellar season continued on Saturday night as he drove to his 10th win of the season in the 20 lap S.R. Pete & Sons Super Late Model feature. Andrew Mullins and Elliott would capture the qualifying heats. A six car inversion draw would put Nick Davis on the pole.

Davis looked smooth and fast at the start of the race with Staci Warrington running second and Donald Lingo, Jr. in third. Lingo, Jr. took second on lap two but one lap later was dropped to third as Elliott headed to the front. Davis would hold off Elliott for three more circuits before Elliott took the lead on lap seven.

The S.R. Pete & Sons halfway bonus of $50 would go to Elliott. Davis continued to run a strong race in second with Lingo, Jr. third and David Hill on the move in fourth. Hill took third for lap 11 as Brandon Dennis moved into the top five.

The race was caution free until lap 15 when Bob Geiger got around in the second turn just as he was about to be overtaken by the leader. On the restart Hill jumped up to third and began to track down Elliott. With one lap to go Hill was on Elliott’s rear spoiler but a slight slip going into the first turn would give Elliott all the breathing room he needed and he crossed the finish a mere .168 seconds ahead of Hill. Lingo, Jr. got by Dennis and Davis to finish in third.
