NUMBER 9 FOR ELLIOTT IN LATE MODELS

The inversion draw for the 20-lap Super Late Model Feature was a zero putting first heat winner, Kerry King on the pole and second heat winner, Ricky Elliott inside the second row in the Delaware Start. The initial start was a wild one with Donald Lingo, Jr. and Elliott making contact coming off the fourth turn sending both cars sliding into the infield. The yellow came out but neither car stopped moving putting them back side by side in the second row for the complete restart.

King led the first circuit before Elliott pulled by down the back straight to lead lap two. The race would go caution free as Elliott pulled away from the field. By lap nine he had a full straight lead over King with Lingo, Jr. holding third while Andrew Mullins and Staci Warrington battled for fourth.

Elliott was patient as he worked lapped traffic and by five to go he was almost half a track ahead of King. Elliott was able to cruise to his ninth win of the season with King finishing a personal best this season in second. Lingo, Jr. took the third spot with Mullins fourth and Warrington fifth.

“We pushed this thing pretty hard tonight, said Elliott as steam boiled from the hood of his car. “I don’t know what happened on the start. I think Donald actually got me on the start and was going to cut in behind KB but I was still there. He’s a good racer and does a great job. He makes me get up on the wheel and get after it.
