RICKY ELLIOTT RUNS AWAY WITH DELAWARE LATE MODEL WIN
Ricky “The Rocket Elliott took the lead on the first lap of the 20-lap Super Late Model feature Saturday night and was never seriously challenged as he drove to his fourth win of the year.
Heats were won by Kevin Scott, Jr. and Richard Jarvis, Jr. but with the six car inversion draw, Kerry King started on the pole and Ricky Elliott started in second. Elliott wasted no time going to the front and led lap one. King ran in second with Donald Lingo, Jr. challenging from third.
Jarvis, Jr. worked his way into the fray and got by both Lingo, Jr. and King for second on lap seven. The halfway point of the race was dismal for several drivers. King and Lingo, Jr. made contact going into the third turn while battling for second with Lingo spinning as did Staci Warrington who ended up off the back side of the third turn.
On the restart, Kerry King, Jr. glanced off the front straight wall and made contact with Stacy Roberts. Roberts went head on into the wall and flipped with King, Jr. ending up on top of her badly damaged racer. Fortunately neither driver was injured in the crash.
The second half of the race was all Elliott. David Hill came through the top five to take second with three to go but was unable to close on the leader. Elliott got the win with Hill second and Jarvis, Jr. third. Fourth went to Kerry King, Sr. and Mark Byram rounded out the top five.
“I tell you this car is fantastic, said Elliott. “We ran this car last night. We were going to run the other car but it was just too much work to get ready for next week and I’m glad we did.
