WARREN AVOIDS TROUBLE TO WIN IN CRATE MODELS

Before the first lap of the 15-lap Crate Model feature was in the book the yellow was out when Richard Harden, Skip Syester and Paul McGinley tangled in the third turn. Under the yellow, Mike Wharton who was running third headed to the pits.

Reese Massiello held off John Imler but on lap three Imler tangled with point leader Matt Hill and Clint Chalabala in the second turn. Joe Warren managed to just scrape by on the inside and restarted in second behind Massiello.

Warren was able to work his way into the lead on lap six. A hard crash occurred on lap eight when Matt Glanden slowed and headed to the pits. Matt Hill didn’t see Glanden until it was too late making hard contact and badly damaging both cars. Fortunately both drivers were okay.

Sparky White worked into second and would chase Warren the rest of the distance to the checkered. It was the second win of the season for the defending point champ who gained in the points on Hill. White finished in the second spot with Mike Wilson putting on a nice drive to finish in third. Fourth went to Robbie Emory and Massiello rounded out the top five. Fast time in qualifying was set by White. Results are unofficial pending tech later this week.Note: Warren's car passed tech on Monday and results are official.
