County Line Raceway
Rain Washes Out First Responders Night
Mother Nature was the real winner Saturday night when County Line Raceway in Elm City honored the area's first responders.
Super Stock Four Cylinder drivers took to the track first with Kevin Pierce and Damien Bryant starting on the front row. A battle it would be as drivers took it three wide going into turn two on the first lap. The field would be slowed when the A47 of Austin Bottoms slowed on the front stretch after losing power. Bottoms would pit but return later in the event. Back green more side by side action throughout the field until another caution waved when the 12 of Kevin Pierce went up in flames. Pierce was able to exit the car and the Toisnot Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the fire, retiring the 12 car to the pits for the remainder of the night. The field would not be slowed again as Damien Bryant crossed the line first. James Manning came home second followed by Jason Horne, Austin Holcombe, Eric Hill rounded out the top five.
The Pure Stock Four Cylinder division rolled onto the track and took the initial green flag when a caution waved for the 9 of Brandon Whitley and the 16 of Cooper Edwards who brought out the caution for a spin in turn three. Before the track was cleared to resume racing the rains rolled in forcing track officials to postpone the remainder of the night's racing action.
Due to the rainout, track management chose to add a race to Friday night, September 18 to complete the remainder of the show. Racing action in the remaining divisions, DRU Auto Sales & Service Pure Stock Four Cylinder, ARCO Restoration Limited Sportsman, Pure Stock V-8, and Late Model will be run using the orders set by Saturday night's heat races and qualifying.
Saturday night will be the Night of Champions presented by ARCO Restoration. Five divisions of high octane racing action will keep you on the edge of your seats as drivers vie for Double Points and the chance to be crowned Champion.
More information will be posted on the track's website (www.countylineracewaync.com) early next week.
