Nick Hoffman embarks on USA Nationals
Thursday night found Nick Hoffman kicking off the 34th annual USA Nationals weekend at Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wis.). The $6,000-to-win World of Outlaws (WoO) Morton Buildings Late Model Series event drew 49 Super Late Models, and Nick hit the ground running by setting fast time in his qualifying group. In his heat race he battled with Jimmy Mars for the win before ultimately scoring the victory. Via the heat win, Hoffman locked into the third-starting for the night’s feature. Unfortunately, rain moved in before the feature could be contested, postponing it to Friday afternoon.
When action resumed on Friday, Hoffman enjoyed a good run in the feature before ultimately crossing the finish line fifth behind Ashton Winger, Chase Junghans, Brandon Sheppard, and Jimmy Owens.
Later Friday night the 34th annual USA Nationals came to life with double heat races for the field. Nick recorded a third and fourth-place finish in his respective heats, leaving him 14th in the night’s overall standings. With the Top 18 in points locking into the feature, Hoffman rolled off 14th for Saturday night’s 100-lap, $50,000-to-win finale.
The weekend drew to a close with challenging track conditions on Saturday night. Hoffman was able to soldier through to record an eighth-place finish
