James Giossi

Masters Recap and Looking Ahead

It was a successful weekend for Team Giossi as they took on the Masters at Cedar Lake Speedway. The weekend consisted of a 3 day show that started on Thursday night. James and crew managed to move forward in almost every race they started.

Thursday night was the start to a great weekend as Giossi would start 6th in his heat race and make his way up to third. Although he passed a decent amount of cars, the field was so strong, James would find himself in the 8th starting spot for the feature event. The thunder from the engines lit up the Cedar Lake Speedway as the green flew. Giossi was settled for the first part of the race. A little before the half way point, the white and orange 11 started to make his moves. After battling with one of the strongest fields up to this point, James was in third, and closing on the leaders. With only a few laps to go, Giossi would run out of time to catch the top 2. A solid start to the weekend.

Friday night was shaping up to be a good one as James would use his momentum from the previous night. Unfortunately, James would start 7th in his heat race. Giossi was on of the top movers in the heat races, but would come home 3 spots ahead in 4th. Due to the amount of competition and car count, Giossi wouldn't make the redraw. This put him out to start the feature in 13th. Once again, James didn't have the best starting spot in the feature. Battling hard for big money on the line, James flew through the field and was one of the biggest movers of the night. After a tough starting spot Giossi would wheel all the way up to 4th, keeping his top 5 streak alive.

Saturday night was the biggest paycheck of the season on the line. $10,000 was up for grabs as the Masters were coming to an end. This time, James would start on the pole of the heat race and that's exactly where he would finish. The luck had shifted, and James would have a pole starting spot for the $10,000 feature event. The green flew. Giossi would battle with Kaanta early, eventually letting the 85 take the top spot. James found himself searching all over the track for the fastest line with his 11 machine. After holding his ground for most of the race, Giossi would end up coming home with another 4th place finish. "We were good when we were unlucky. We were lucky when we weren't as good", James said.

After two weeks off, team Giossi will be heading to Mississippi Thunder Speedway on Friday July 9th and back to Cedar Lake Speedway on the 10th. The show on Friday night will be part of the Dirt Kings Tour with some very stout competition.
