James Giossi

Out With The Old, In With The New

James Giossi headed to Cedar Lake Speedway this weekend with a brand new ride. This year, James put together a new MB Customs late model, with some added horsepower. Friday night was the first test session for James as he took it to Cedar Lake. After getting a few test runs in James said " It doesn't quite feel like home". Racing his old car the past few years, it's very understandable for it not to "feel like home".

Heading into Saturday night, Giossi had some nerves about running the new car. James started the night off 2nd row inside for his heat race. As the green flag dropped, it was clear that the new motor was up to par. James blasted out of 4 and quickly snuck under the pole sitter to grab the lead. James went to work and broke the new car in up on the high side. After a quick heat race, it was the 11 of Giossi coming out on top. Although James got the heat race win, he still wasn't sure about his new set up. Once the heat was over, it was time to redraw for the feature. Unfortunately, James drew the last number in the bucket, 9.

After working hard in the heat race, James would have to settle in to the 9th place starting spot for the A main. The green flag dropped and Giossi had to maneuver through the field to work his way to the front. About midway through the race, it was like a switch was flipped. James's confidence with the new car quickly came around to him and he was one of the fastest cars on the track. After battling hard, Giossi found himself in 5th place. With about 5 laps to go, James put the hammer down and started reeling in the top 4. After making up nearly a straightaway advantage, the number 11 had to settle for a 5th place finish. "We'll take it" Giossi said, "I'm just excited now to go run with the best of the best at Mississippi Thunder Speedway". Overall it was a great night for team 11. After dialing in the new car, they look to keep things rolling this coming Friday and Saturday night.
